Strategic Procurement Forum
Welcome from CIPS Australasia
The procurement reform programme is now reinvigorated with the new leadership of the Department of Business, Innovation & Employment, who stand to be just as supportive of the profession as their predecessors.
The 3rd CIPS New Zealand Public Sector Procurement Forum has been developed by CIPSA Conferences in close conjunction with the Procurement Reform Group to provide public sector procurement professionals in NZ specifically, with an eclectic mix of content designed to provide both strategic direction and real, practical learnings.
This year's forum includes a healthy mix of strategic and tactical sessions, providing delegates with updates on the procurement reform programme and how this impacts on them, before moving into a series of sessions designed to assist NZ public sector procurement professionals to develop their skills, knowledge and career opportunities.
I commend the programme to you and very much look forward to seeing you in Wellington,
Jonathan Dutton FCIPS
Managing Director

Welcome from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment
Building on the success of the previous two years, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment is happy to support CIPSA to bring you the 3rd CIPS NZ Public Sector Procurement Forum. The Forum will shine a spotlight on topics that are of increasing importance to public sector procurers as the government focuses on delivering better public services.
MBIE was formed in July 2012 to be a catalyst for a high-performing economy, and includes the former departments of Building and Housing and Labour and the ministries of Economic Development and Science and Innovation. A key focus for MBIE, and the wider public sector in the coming year, is collaboration – both between the public and private sectors and across public sector agencies. Great things can come from working together!
It has been a big year for MBIE’s procurement reform team – highlights include the appointment of the Chief Executive of MBIE as the procurement functional leader for government; the introduction of plain English procurement principles; ministerial agreement to join the World Trade Organisation Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA); increased interest in agency procurement effectiveness reviews; and the implementation of further All-of-Government contracts.
The hard work across agencies is starting to pay off and the benefit and rewards that flow from good procurement practice are being increasingly recognised within government. Join us on November 21 for a day of learning, celebration, and networking. Come along and have your say!
